- AS 1851 Compliance: The requirement for compliance with AS 1851, which sets the frequency for fire safety servicing and maintenance, has been deferred by 12 months to 13 February 2026.
- Fire Safety Certificate Assessments: The mandate for fire safety certificates to be issued only after assessment by an accredited practitioner (fire safety) has been postponed by 24 months, now taking effect on 13 February 2027.

What This Means for Building Owners
For the next 12 months, existing fire protection requirements in NSW remain unchanged. However, despite these deferrals, building owners are still responsible for maintaining their fire safety systems.
AS 1851 continues to be the national benchmark for fire safety servicing and maintenance, ensuring compliance and safety in buildings across the state.
