Q: We love working with people who are also passionate about people. Form1 has been providing essential fire and safety services to Maroba for approximately nine years – what were your first impressions of Form1?
A:
Form1 were recommended to us by Specialist Training and Development. First impressions were professional and demonstrated attention to details. Also I was taken with the friendliness of the key people.

Q: Maroba Caring Communities is a special place that’s all about ‘people’. Can you tell us about your facility?
A: Maroba Caring Communities is an aged care facility that has been caring for the elderly in the Hunter for over 65 years. The services we provide include Residential Care and Retirement Living. We also provide a Wellness Program for residents and members of the community that wish to remain at home but still maintain their wellbeing and stay connected with others. This program includes access to our state of the art Gymnasium, Beauty Parlour, Day Spa, participation in Tai Chi classes, exercise programs and Allied Health Services. Due to Covid-19 our Wellness program for community clients is temporarily on-hold.

Q: What an amazing program. How would you describe the culture at Maroba?
A: The Maroba values are Caring, Inspiring, Integrity, Creative and Growth and we see this every day in our staff who go above and beyond to ensure residents live a full and happy life here at Maroba. We find it’s the little things that matter most and make the most impact for our residents, like finding a prawn sandwich when the craving comes, and facilitating connection with a friend or relative who they haven’t heard from in a while.

“Knowing that a critical service such as fire protection is being carried out correctly and thoroughly offers great peace of mind.”
– Viv Allanson, CEO, Maroba Caring Communities

Q: What type of fire and safety work has Form1 carried out for your facility?
A: Form1 provide Fire Protection Services and we find all staff very thorough in their work. They carry out a very critical service to our business.

Q: Are there any specific challenges Form1 has helped you overcome?
A: Through their initial audit, Form1 were able to identify short comings in our Fire Safety system allowing us to have them rectified in the defects period of the building. Sadly various engineers and the government appointed building certifier did not identify these critical issues in the build phase.

Q: If you had three words to describe the technicians and management team what would they be?
A: Friendly, Professional and Knowledgeable.

Q: Why has Form1 been a good fit for your business?
A: Form1 has values in line with our own. They have generously contributed to sponsorship of a staff scholarship at our International Nurses & Staff Recognition day and attend our events such as Leaders in the Spotlight.

Q: What is important to you when it comes to dealing with fire and safety service providers?
A: Relationships are paramount to us along with an organisations values, and willingness to comply with our business’s processes and procedures.

Q: Would you recommend Form1 to others in your industry?
A: I would have no hesitation in recommending Form1. Their industry knowledge, professional attitude and personalised service are second to none. They are part of the Maroba Community and are real partners in our business. We have a responsibility to our residents, staff and visitors which we take very seriously, and knowing that a critical service such as fire protection is being carried out correctly and thoroughly offers great peace of mind.

Fire and Safety in Aged Care

The elderly are one of the most vulnerable groups in our population right now with the risks of Coronavirus (COVID-19). For Australians in Aged Care facilities, the importance of keeping them safe is more critical than ever. Fire Safety is one aspect of maintaining an Aged Care facility that cannot be overlooked.

By keeping up with regular fire safety maintenance, and testing, you can ensure you have the correct and adequate protection equipment in the right place throughout your facility. All fire safety and systems should be fully compliant and operational, in line with Government Regulations, Australian Standards and BCA requirements, so not only will you feel confident that you are keeping everyone safe, but you are following government regulations.

If you have any questions about fire and safety practices in your aged care facility, especially during Coronavirus (COVID-19), please get in touch with us at Form1.
