10 Ways To Live Greener at Work

March is a fantastic month to do things that are good for the planet. Here are 10 ways we can all live greener at work.

With Clean Up Australia Day on March 5 and Earth Hour on Saturday, March 25, now is a great time to get serious about the planet and support these environmental initiatives. We’re here to help you get started – here are ten great tips to help us all live a little greener at work.

  1. Use Less Paper
If you want to live greener at work, use electronic documents and emails whenever you can and recycle any paper you use.
  2. Grab a reusable water bottle
Avoid using disposable plastic water bottles and opt for a reusable water bottle instead. There are plenty of great bottles around – pick up one for your desk and one for your car so you’re never without.
  3. Get friendly with energy-efficient appliances
Use energy-efficient light bulbs, appliances, and equipment to reduce energy consumption. Imagine if every office, hospital, aged care facility, and school in the country could do this!
  4. Choose eco-friendly products
Purchase environmentally friendly office supplies, furniture, and equipment whenever you can. We are proud to use Zero Co in our Form1 offices.
  5. Carpool, ride your bike or use public transport
Carpooling, riding your bike to work, or taking public transport will reduce your carbon footprint and it’s good for your health.
  6. Save energy
When they’re not in use turn off electronics and start reducing your energy consumption today.
  7. Use natural light
Take advantage of natural light by opening curtains and blinds and turning off artificial lighting. It will give your brain a break too to have sunshine and light coming through the window.
  8. Reduce food waste
Pack your own lunch and bring it to work in a reusable container to reduce waste from single-use packaging.
  9. Encourage recycling
Set up recycling bins in your office and encourage your colleagues to recycle.
  10. Plant greenery
Adding plants and greenery to your workspace can help purify the air and improve your well-being.
