By implementing smart air conditioning solutions, you can not only create a comfortable environment in your facility or workplace, but also reduce energy consumption and lower utility costs.
Whether you’re managing an office building, hospital, school, aged care, or a residential complex, we’ve got first-hand tips to help you get the most out of your air conditioning system while prioritising energy efficiency and comfort.
In summer and winter, we recommend temperatures be set between 22-24 degrees. This is the best temperature for comfort all year round and will also make sure your air conditioner is not overworking and costing you more power. Setting the temperature in your facility just one degree less than usual can cut costs up to 10%.
Always ensure your thermostat is in the space where your air conditioner is. Sounds simple, right? Unfortunately, we often see these set up wrong – located in a separate room or installed behind heat gaining equipment – which causes the thermostat to give an inaccurate reading.
Another way to save power is to make sure your equipment is running only when it’s needed. If you have time today, check that all your comfort space air conditioning fans and other mechanical plants have timers set. And check them on a regular basis to ensure times are correct. You’ll conserve plenty of energy by guaranteeing your equipment operates only when necessary.
It’s crucial to regularly maintain your air conditioning unit and either replace or clean its filter. People often neglect this essential task which can lead to a dirty filter and cause your air conditioning system to work harder. This results in increased electricity consumption and higher energy costs.
Use cost-effective, high-efficiency compressors, fans, pumps, and motors. This is helpful when installing new equipment. Also make sure you optimise controls to best suit the application. We currently install Variable Refrigerant Flow systems to ensure the most energy efficient air conditioning solutions to your commercial space. These Systems are made up of one outdoor unit, serving multiple indoor units, with high efficiency inverter compressors. With heat recovery we can have multiple indoor units on this system which can heat and cool simultaneously!
Equipment should be properly sized. Over-sized equipment will not be energy efficient and under-sizing equipment will cause it to stay running all the time and never get to set temperature point. Again, this will cause it to use more power than required.
Implementing smart air conditioning solutions can enhance the comfort and energy efficiency of your facility. Sometimes the smallest adjustments can create a pleasant environment and contribute to reducing your carbon footprint and lowering utility costs.
